Homestead

About
The Origin of Nine Pines began over 20 years ago, when Craig’s first taste of vegetable gardening began. Years later the journey evolved from a small 10’x16’ plot in his parent’s backyard to nearly 3000sq/ft of gardens in the backyard of his first house. It was here that Craig got his first 2 beehives, and after a very successful year he was hooked. After several years of “urban” beekeeping, gardening, and meeting his life partner; the current property that Nine Pines calls home became available.
Nine Pines Homestead, run by Craig Burek and his wife Danielle Ball, sits on nearly 11 acres of old farmland, with no record of soil management for over 25 years. Approximately 8 acres is still set up as field, but consisting of mainly wild grasses, flowers, and remnants of cover crops over the years...
About
The Origin of Nine Pines began over 20 years ago, when Craig’s first taste of vegetable gardening began.
Approximately 8 acres is still set up as field, but consisting of mainly wild grasses, flowers, and remnants of cover crops over the years. There is approximately an acre of gardens and orchard, and the remaining portion of the property being structures, lawn and driveway.
Since acquiring the property in 2022, Craig and Danielle have worked tirelessly to turn it into exactly what they wanted. Planting nearly 2000 trees in windbreaks, reforested areas and natural fencelines, the vision of growing food for the community alongside nature has started to take shape. Mixed into the natural areas are over 100 fruit trees, 250+ berry bushes, ¼ acre of vegetable garden and 15 beehives. In 2024 ducks were introduced to the property, and in 2025 the first meat chickens were raised.
2025 also brought twins Isaac and Sophie into their lives and included a whole new outlook on their vision. Nine Pines Homestead was no longer just about growing good tasting food, but growing food that has a well-known history. No chemicals, no pesticides. No hormones, no medications or vaccinations, just real good food, the way it was meant to be.
